Simple Strawberry Spinach Flax Seed Smoothie

Here’s another on-the-go recipe that I like to keep in my back pocket for busy mornings. Simple Strawberry Spinach Flax Seed Smoothie is really quick to make, and super nutritious to give you the energy you need to get going in the morning. A quick pro tip: Freeze your fruit into portioned ziploc bags ahead of time, so you can just pull them out and not worry about cutting them up or measuring! Or, just do what I do, and add a little bit of this and a little bit of that until it tastes good. As a smoothie should.

How to Make A Strawberry Spinach Smoothie

I love making smoothie recipes because there are so many ways that you can get creative. And you almost always have some kind of smoothie ingredients on hand!

Here are my 5 Pro Tips on How to Make A Strawberry Spinach Smoothie

  1. Use Fresh or Frozen Fruit. I’ve seen a lot of smoothies using artificial syrups or flavored sugars. These can be good if you’re looking for something that tastes more like candy than a real smoothie. But if you ask me, there’s nothing that beats the flavors of real, fresh whole-food ingredients. During strawberry season, I use fresh fruit to make my strawberry spinach smoothie. But the rest of the year, I’ll buy a big bag of frozen berries, which also makes your strawberry spinach smoothie nice and cold!
  2. Don’t Be Afraid To Use Other Greens In Your Spinach Smoothie Recipe. I get it, this is called a strawberry spinach smoothie recipe. But let’s not live with limitations, people. Whatever greens you have will do just fine in a spinach smoothie recipe. I’ve used kale on many occasions. The flavor is a little different, but it’s still tasty! And in this spinach smoothie recipe, you’ll find that the fruit covers a lot of the flavor up, anyway.
  3. Let’s Make A Flax Seed Smoothie! I always like to add a little kick of nutrition to my smoothies. My favorite options are flax seeds, chia seeds, or protein powder. But the flax seed smoothie especially tastes good, because it has a really nice nutty taste. So, if you ask me, I always love a good flax seed smoothie!

Can You Make A Strawberry Smoothie Recipe Without Yogurt?

The simple answer is, yes! Of course you can!

Yogurt gives smoothies a really creamy texture, but to be honest, I’m not always going for indulgence. Sometimes, I want something fruity, cold, and nutty, instead. So I made this smoothie recipe without yogurt. In place of yogurt, I’ve used just milk.

I always have 2% milk at home, but you can use whatever you have. Just remember, this smoothie recipe without yogurt uses 2% milk, so that’s what the calories are based off of.

How Do You Feel About An Avocado Spinach Smoothie?

We talked about how this is a smoothie recipe without yogurt. But if you want to add a little bit of texture back, why not go with nutritious and delicious avocado? Avocados are high in fat, but it’s a healthy fat, so it adds a really nice creamy texture to anything you blend it into. Plus, it’s really good at taking the flavor of whatever you put it in, including a strawberry avocado spinach smoothie.

Check out my chocolate avocado pudding as an example, or these avocado brownies. Which is why I highly recommend making this an avocado spinach smoothie.strawberry spinach smoothie
