Creamy & Sweet – Greek yogurt, banana, and milk give it a thick, smooth texture that’s almost like a milkshake (but way better).
Ingredients You’ll Need
Pineapple. You can use fresh pineapple chunks or canned pineapple for this smoothie. I always have canned crushed pineapple in 100% juice in my pantry, so that’s what I usually go with.
Strawberries. I have fresh juicy strawberries right now because it’s strawberry season where I live. Fresh strawberries add a nice bright flavor, but you can also use frozen strawberries.
Banana. A medium to large banana will add a lot of creamy and sweet texture to the smoothie! Ripe bananas will make a sweeter smoothie.
Greek Yogurt. I like to use vanilla yogurt for smoothies, because it adds a really nice flavor. Greek yogurt will also add a creamy texture because it is thicker than regular yogurt. You can also use plain yogurt but it won’t be as sweet.
Milk. I use 2% milk, but you can also use whole milk or a non-dairy substitute like unsweetened almond milk, coconut water, or coconut milk. Canned coconut milk will have the creamiest texture.
Honey. I add a squeeze of honey for sweetness. You can also use maple syrup.
Vanilla. Adding a small amount of vanilla extract also adds a really nice flavor!
Ice. This helps thicken the smoothie, and makes it nice and cold.

How to Make Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie
Time needed: 5 minutes
- Add ingredients to the blender.
Place all ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth.
- Adjust as-needed.
Add any additional milk or ice as-needed until you reach the desired texture.
Recipe Variations
- Make this a green smoothie with some kale or spinach leaves.
- Try using less milk to make this thick, then serving it as a smoothie bowl topped with some coconut flakes, sliced fruit, or some gluten free granola.
- Make this even more filling with some strawberry or vanilla protein powder. Or use chocolate protein powder to make a chocolate strawberry shake!
- Try making this even creamier by adding avocado or extra banana.
- Using frozen fruit can make this thick and frosty! Try frozen mixed berries for a berry smoothie.
- Some of my favorite smoothie additions are chia seeds or ground flax seed for extra fiber. Or peanut butter for protein.
Recipe Tip! You can make smoothies ahead of time for an easy morning routine! Portion all of the ingredients (except for the milk and honey) into freezer-safe bags and freeze them. Then just empty the bag into the blender, add some milk and honey, and blend!
Frequently Asked Questions
This smoothie goes well with other tropical fruits like papaya, mango, or even coconut or coconut flakes. I’ve also added fruit juices like orange juice or pineapple juice instead of milk, a dash of cinnamon, chocolate chips, or frozen mixed berries.
Recipe Tip! You can make this thicker or thinner depending on your preference. If you’re not sure, add half of the milk and blend. Then check the consistency, and add more milk as-needed.

Storage
Refrigerate leftover smoothie for 1-2 days in an airtight container. You may have to shake the smoothie if it sits in the refrigerator, some separation is normal. It’s perfect for a quick breakfast the next morning!
Freeze extra smoothie in an ice cube tray covered in plastic wrap, or in an airtight container, for 2-3 months, and blend with milk when you want a frozen smoothie anytime!
Cooking Tips
- If your ingredients aren’t blending evenly, pulse the blender a few times to make sure everything blends together smoothly. A high powered blender works best if you like to make homemade smoothies.
- If you want a thinner smoothie, add another splash of milk and use regular yogurt instead of greek yogurt. For a thicker smoothie, use less milk.
- Fruit can be sweeter or less sweet depending on the time of the year. Add a touch of honey to balance out tart fruit, or a squeeze of lemon juice to balance out sweetness.
- Frozen strawberries or frozen pineapple chunks will make the smoothie thicker than just fresh fruit. Plus, keeping frozen fruit around can help you have smoothie ingredients on hand anytime!
- You can peel, cut up, and freeze ripe bananas to use later in frozen fruit smoothies. The frozen banana can be added directly to the blender for any delicious smoothie recipes!
