Grilled Chicken Drumsticks
Grilled Chicken Drumsticks made with my favorite jerk marinade and grilled to perfection are ready in only 30 minutes! They’re quick and easy on a weeknight, and won’t break the bank. You can use your favorite dry rub or marinade, or grill them with just salt, pepper, and a little bit of olive oil.
How do you know when chicken drumsticks are done?
Chicken drumsticks are done when they reach an internal temperature of 165F. Over medium heat, they’ll take about 15 minutes on each side, and the juices will run clear when it’s done.
Can chicken drumsticks be pink?
Chicken drumsticks might look slightly pink, but the meat will look much darker than when the chicken is raw. That is why you want to use a meat thermometer to make sure your grilled chicken drumsticks have reached 165F on the innermost part.
What temperature should the grill be for chicken?
Heat the grill to about 350-400F, the same as the oven. I close the lid of the grill while the chicken cooks on each side, so it can sit in the heat and cook evenly. If you don’t have a grill lid, you might need to add a few extra minutes for each side of your grilled chicken drumsticks.
Tips for How to Cook Chicken Drumsticks
- You can use any seasoning you’d like on these grilled chicken drumsticks. Try my ranch seasoning, or fajita seasoning!
- You can make other cuts of chicken along with your drumsticks, like chicken thighs or wings, if you want to cut up chicken quarters or a whole chicken for the grill.
- Use a marinade that calls for oil to help your grilled chicken drumsticks get extra crispy!
- If your fire is on the higher side on your grill, you may have to turn the drumsticks sooner than 15 minutes. Keep an eye on them to make sure.
- If you don’t want to pre-season the drumsticks, try covering them in some Honey BBQ sauce when they’re finished cooking right before serving.
- If your chicken drumsticks are tough, cook them to 175F-180F to break down some of the meat before serving.
