Breakfast Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
Creamy, smooth, and sinfully sweet, you won’t believe how easy this Breakfast Pumpkin Pie Smoothie is to make! With nutritious oatmeal and yogurt, this smoothie tastes exactly like pumpkin pie in a glass, bringing the flavors of autumn to your breakfast table. Best of all, it’s like having dessert for breakfast, without all of the baking!
The holidays are quickly approaching, and with them come all of the autumn flavors we adore. What do you love most about the holidays? Is it the decorating, or spending time with family? The crisp air, pine tree scent and setting the slow cooker? Or maybe it’s the pumpkin-spiced-everything that seems to be in the air this season?
For me, it’s the pie.
And family time… You know, if it also includes pie.
In fact, I love pumpkin pie so much that I pretty much make it all year round. It’s smooth, it’s spiced, and it’s frankly delicious in every way. During the holidays, when there’s a selection of pie in the house at all times, I even have it for breakfast (admit it, you’ve done it, too!). Until, that is, I discovered the Breakfast Pumpkin Pie Smoothie.
If you’re really in the pumpkin mood this season, be sure not to miss these Soft Baked Gluten Free Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies! Soft, sweet and deliciously chewy, you wonโt even be able to tell that these pumpkin oatmeal cookies are gluten free.
I made this several different ways before I really got the recipe down. I tried plain greek yogurt with vanilla extract (nope, not sweet enough), more pumpkin and less everything else (nope, too bitter), and even with honey (ok, but not as good as maple syrup).
The secret to a really good pumpkin pie smoothie, it turns out, is a really good quality greek vanilla yogurt. It just takes the smoothie to a whole new level of flavor, and it’s the only thing I found that cuts the bitterness of the pumpkin puree.
My only other suggestion is to sub out the yogurt for vanilla ice cream, but that makes this more of a pumpkin pie milkshake, doesn’t it?
I topped this pumpkin pie smoothie with cinnamon, but it would also be good with granola, crumbled graham crackers or even whipped cream. Yum! I would even suggest swapping out the vanilla yogurt with a vanilla protein powder, if you want to get really healthy with it. I’ve done that in the past with delicious results.
So next time you’re craving pumpkin pie, but don’t want to deal with the cooking (or you just want to stay on the healthier side of breakfast), don’t be afraid to whip up a few of these Breakfast Pumpkin Pie Smoothies!

wow this looks delicious! I only wish it was easy to find Pumpkin spice in Australia. I have resorted to making my own but I’m not sure it tastes 100% the same. X
Thank you! You know, I always assumed pumpkin pie spice was universally available. I’m sure yours is pretty close, it’s really just a mix of spices. I wonder if you could get it off of Amazon?
Can I use agave nectar instead of maple syrup? I can’t find good quality maple syrup in any of my stores. :/
Hi Sam, I’ve never tried agave nectar in this before, but I don’t think it’d be an issue. I’d try maybe a tablespoon and add more as needed, to make sure it doesn’t end up too sweet. You can also go with honey.
Looks yummy Jacqui. Thanks so much for the feature this week at the LFEO party:)
Thanks! And you’re welcome, awesome post! ๐
What kind of milk did you use to get hat calorie count? Full fat, 2% or fat free.
It looks like Yummly has the recipe set for 4 servings per smoothie, and
the calculation was done with whole milk. When I plug in the recipe to
MyFitnessPal, it actually comes out to 150 calories per serving (which is
better, yay!), using whole milk.
If you’d like to split the recipe in half and have two servings per batch
instead (which is what I have it set for on my site) then it would be 305
calories per serving (using whole milk).
Made this morning, but just wasn’t sweet enough for me. Not sure what I would add to make it sweeter; but otherwise it was good.
Hi Jill, if you’d like it sweeter I’d suggest adding another tablespoon or two of maple syrup. You can also add a tablespoon or two of brown sugar, if you’d like. They should both go well with the pumpkin flavor ๐
Made these for breakfast for the morning for the four youngest boys and myself; they were loved by all!! Thanks for the great idea!!
Thanks so much, I’m glad you liked them! ๐
I’m not a big pumpkin pie fan but everyone else in my family sure is! I’m going to have to make this for them, they’ll love it!
It’s like pumpkin pie in a glass! I’m hopefully posting another holiday smoothie in the next few weeks, maybe you’ll like that one better. I’m thinking peppermint… ๐
This lightened up version looks amazinggg
Thank you! ๐
You had me at Smoothie and Pumpkin – sound delicious.

Lovely recipe – I really like both pumpkin and squash in smoothies, I roast a big batch and then freeze it.
I haven’t tried roasting my own pumpkin yet, but my dad used to do it all the time and make pumpkin soup. Yum! Maybe I’ll ask him for the recipe for a new post. Thanks!
This was soooo good – a perfect fall breakfast!

Thanks! It’s great when you’re running out the door. You can mix all of the ingredients the night before, and just give it a quick blend in the morning.
