Why Youโll Love This Recipe
Easy to make! This recipe is so incredibly easy to make, and your guests will love them! They’re always a hit at holiday parties and brunch.
Festive! These mimosas are perfect for fall, and you can get creative with the garnish to make them look even better. You can garnish with apple slices, cinnamon sticks, or dip in cinnamon sugar!
Ingredients Youโll Need
Sparkling Wine. I like to use Prosecco when making mimosas. It’s not too sweet and not too dry, and very affordable so you’re not breaking the bank.
Depending on your preference, I recommend using a brut champagne if you want to go less sweet, or a sparkling moscato if you want to go even sweeter.ย
You can learn more about the difference between champagne and Prosecco here.
Apple Cider.ย Regular apple cider that starts showing up in grocery stores when fall arrives!
Garnish. You can garnish these any way you’d like, or leave the garnish off entirely to keep it simple. I prefer a cinnamon sugar on the rim of the glass. You can also add a cinnamon stick, apple slice, or find a colorful edible glitter from the baking section.
Kitchen Tools
For this recipe all you need is four champagne flutes or wine glasses, and two small shallow bowls.
How to Make Apple Cider Mimosas
Time needed: 5 minutes
- Garnish the glasses.
Using two small shallow bowls, add caramel sauce to one and cinnamon sugar to the other. Dip the rim of the glass into the caramel sauce and let any excess drip off. Then dip into the cinnamon sugar, turning the glass gently to coat the rim. Repeat with remaining glasses.ย
- Add Prosecco and apple cider.
Pour the glasses halfway full of the Prosecco, then fill the remaining half with the apple cider. If you’re filling a large pitcher instead, the ratio is 1 part Prosecco to 1 part apple cider.
Recipe Variations
- For an alcohol-free version, use non-alcoholic sparkling apple cider or ginger ale instead of the sparkling wine.ย
- For more sweetness, add some caramel to the champagne glass before pouring in the cider.
- If you don’t want to do the cinnamon sugar rim, you can also line the rim of the glass with regular granulated sugar or brown sugar.
- Change the flavor by adding a splash of orange juice.
Recipe Tip! If you’re making this in a pitcher to serve a table, the ratio of apple cider to sparkling wine is 1:1. Just fill the pitcher halfway with the Prosecco, then fill the remainder of the pitcher with apple cider.
Frequently Asked Questions
I like to use Prosecco, because it’s on the sweeter side without being overly sweet. Plus, it’s very affordable and easy to find. If you’d like to pair the apple cider with something less sweet, look for a bottle of champagne that has the word “brut” on the label. This means it will be less sweet and more dry, which can pair nicely with the sweetness of the cider.
When all else fails, you can pretty much use any sparkling white wine that you have on hand.
Recipe Tip! To make these look extra festive, try apple slices for garnish! Coat the apple slices in lemon juice just after cutting to prevent them from browning. You can also use orange slices.
What to Serve With Mimosas
Storage
I recommend making these just as you’re ready to serve them.
But you can refrigerate a pre-mixed pitcher of mimosas an hour or two beforehand. Don’t mix it sooner, or the wine starts to lose its bubbles.
Tips and Tricks
- Refrigerate the ingredients the night before to make sure the mimosas are cold when serving them. Ice will water down the drink, and this helps avoid having to use it.
- Don’t mix the mimosas too early, or they won’t be fizzy. It’s best to just pour the ingredients directly into the champagne glasses when serving.
- To make the cinnamon sugar mixture, just mix 2 tablespoons of regular granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Play with the ratio until you like the flavor, adding more ground cinnamon as-needed.
- If you don’t have caramel, just lightly dip the rim of the glass in water, then into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
